Mommy mistake #19834

Never give an almost three year old gum. Especially gum shaped in a tiny ball. That can fit in her nose. Ugh.

And know BEFORE the trip to the emergency room that the gum will eventually desolve in the nostril and slip out her nose without any intervention at all. Ever been laughed at in the emergency room?

There's a visual for ya!

Could have been worse. Could have been Pop Rocks.

Is the little one OK?

Took my VCR in for repairs and they began pulling out matchbook cars.

I think it's a sign of intelligence, brilliance even. Really. And I'm not saying that just because I did the same thing at about the same age. Only with peas, english peas, which I hate and refused to eat but I wasn't allowed to leave the table until I cleaned my plate. They had to go somewhere.

Something stuck up the nose?

Think Black and Decker...

Hey, thanks for passing along the info! I'm sure it will come in handy some time in the future.

Think of it this way -- at least it dissolves! When my daughter was two, she stuck hair beads up her nose -- like 6 or 7 of them. One of them I couldn't get out and it kept disappearing up towards her sinuses (it also happened to be an identical color match of the lining of her nose. How convenient!) So we were off to the e/r and not only were we laughed at (initially), we also got the last laugh when it took four fully grown adults to hold down a thrashing two-year-old with the strength of Hercules. :)

Well, indeed, the incident is scary making while it happens.

But it gives you a great story you can torture her over when she's 16 and bringing home a boyfriend for the first time.

I don't think I ever stuck anything up my nose. I wasn't interesting like that.
